Northville got contributions from a trio of freshmen Tuesday in a 102-34 KLAA Central Division dual meet girls track victory over visiting South Lyon.

Jessica Hogan won the high jump with a personal best leap of 5 feet, while Barbara Davis captured the shot put with a throw of 27 feet, 0.5 inches. Ana Barrott also hit a regional qualifying time in the 3,200-meter run with a second-place clocking of 11:38.0.

"The conditions were not the ideal with temperatures in the 30s and rain, but our kids handled it well," said Northville coach Tim Dalton, whose team improved to 3-0 in the Central Division. "The key for this team right now is to stay focused and work on getting better each day in practice."

Individual double winners for the Mustangs included Gracie Goble, long jump (16-11) and 100 dash (no time available); Chloe Abbott, 200 (26.80) and 400 (59.08); Lexa Barrott, 800 (2:26.0) and 1,600 (5:17.0); and Lauren Rodriguez, 100 hurdles (15.48) and 300 hurdles (52.01).

The Mustangs' Emma Herrmann also captured the 3,200 (11:38.0).

Northville also won all four relays as Goble was a member of both the 800 and 1,600 quartets.

The Mustangs will go for their fourth straight KLAA Central Division victory 4 p.m. Tuesday at South Lyon East.

Mustang boys fall

Trevor Tank and Kyle Schopa each captured two events Tuesday as host South Lyon earned an 83-54 KLAA Central Division boys dual meet win over host Northville.

"South Lyon is a great team that offered us some fantastic competition," said Northville boys coach Brandon Langston, whose team slipped to 1-2 in the division. "It was good for the kids to see one of the best teams in the division, so they know what to expect in the conference meet, and now they won't fall under the false assumption that they have arrived already."

Tank captured the shot put (42 feet, 10 inches) and discus (117-0), while Schopa swept the 110- and 300 hurdles in 16.01 and 41.25, respectively, as the Lions upped their division record to 3-0.

Meanwhile, Adam Ghabra was a double-winner for the Mustangs sweeping the 100- and 200 dashes in 11.46 and 22.73, respectively.

Other Northville first-place finishers included John Hamilton, high jump (5-11); Jacob Kamm, 400 (52.29); Jason Ferrante, 800 (2:01.0); and Conor Naughton, 1,600 (4:40.0).

"Wind, rain, and cold temperatures don't make it easy to run your best times of the year, but it does make you a tougher competitor," Langston said. "Our kids have a ton of talent that doesn't always show on days like this. However, it does show that they are great teammates when they all support each other and compete. its great to see kids setting themselves apart and taking ownership of this team."

Northville also captured the 1,600 and 3,200 relays in 3:32.0 and 9:04.0, respectively.
